September 2019

We don’t want to correct you if you think our family is wearing Dirndl and Lederhosen every day. Happy October from Munich! Here is a brief update, prayer requests and details regarding online giving.

We are en route to Hamburg for the Evangelium 21 Conference (E21). We are accidentally without snacks or extra diapers… so we are hoping for a quick six hours on this train. We have been looking forward to E21. Paige will get to hear preaching in English (live) for the first time in four months. We will have some time with family as well as friends from Southern Seminary. Jonas will also be preaching this Sunday at FeG Trittau where our friend is the pastor.

You can learn more about E21 here: https://www.evangelium21.net/konferenzen

Thank you for praying for Paige’s German course. Before we moved, learning German seemed like the insurmountable task. But day by day, I learn a little more and am actually enjoying the process. I know God is helping me in this!

You can pray for my classmate; we’ll call him James. I’ve had the chance to share the gospel with him and give him a Bible in his native language. Please pray God will open his eyes to see Jesus is the King and our Savior.

I am really excited to begin reading through “Women of the Word” with some young ladies in our home. Friendship takes effort, always, but especially when you move to a new place. In God’s kindness, Nora has some fun people to celebrate her first birthday with this month. Nora will be one year old on October 17th and Jonas will be 29 on the 12th.

I (Jonas) preached for the first time at our church last Sunday. I am slowly settling into my position in the church. I am enjoying learning from the pastors of the church and seeing more and more what it will look like to pastor a church.

Next week I will begin to teach a course called “Bibel für alle” (Bible for Everyone), which is available as an online course. The participants will be reading through the material online and we will discuss the material in our bi-weekly meetings.

We have also started first talks about our next step after this year in Munich. Right now there is nothing concrete we can talk about but please do pray for us. Particularly pray that we would find a church in a place where we can serve faithfully and grow some roots.

Thank you for your continued prayers and faithful giving. We want to pray for YOU! We will reach out to you to see how we can best pray, but please contact us anytime.

Prayer requests:

- God would save “James’ (the young man in Paige’s German class)

- God would continue to sustain and strengthen our family

- God would lead us step by step as we pray about ministry after in the trainee program
