Fall 2025
CHURCH
Fall brings new routines, school supplies and a me (Paige) rejoicing that we made it through the heat of summer.
It also means people are back from vacation and church is once again very full.
Two weeks after we came back from the States, we had the privilege of baptizing six new believers. It was so encouraging to hear their different testimonies of how God worked in their lives. One brother shared how he always just thought of Jesus as a good luck charm for whenever he rode his motorcycle. And then one day, seemingly out of nowhere, he had the desire to join his wife at church. God had no doubt prepared his heart to hear the gospel and was answering the prayers of his believing-wife. The man attended our church for a couple of months, realized his view of Jesus as luck charm was wrong, he trusted in Jesus as his savior and got baptized. Praise God.
In August a group from Redeemer Bible Church came for a mission trip. As in the previous years, we met at church on Saturday to fellowship and encourage one another. On Sunday we worshipped together, and Pastor Cory preached to our congregation. Part of the group stayed in our area to serve at a Christian summer camp, while the other part went up to Syke to help the Grünings renovate the counseling center. Both groups were a huge encouragement. We are always grateful for their enduring partnership.
Serving the church means caring for hurting people. And as we do that, we hold to the promise that He will never leave or forsake His sheep. Our friend’s baby girl was born very premature and after 8 weeks in the NICU, she went to be with Jesus. I (Jonas) performed the funeral days later. We continue to pray for our friends and weep with those who weep. Jesus, our only hope in life and in death.
FAMILY
Wowza. That describes the last three months. I’m typing this with ice on my knee and crutches leaned on the footstool after a bike accident last week. We are seeing an orthopedic doctor this Thursday and trying to be patient. I am in significant pain and quite discouraged. This injury comes on the heels of a huge adjustment our family just went through.
We returned to Germany at the end of June, then a couple weeks later, Nora was diagnosed with Type I diabetes. We were in the hospital for 13 days getting her blood sugar stabilized and learning how to care for her well. We won’t be sharing many details online, but please text us if you would like to know more. Nora has taken this on with so much courage and grace. I (Paige) want to be like her! This has not been easy for our family. Please pray for us.
God sustains us. I have been reminded and comforted that God is not only all-sovereign, but also all-loving. We can know He is good and He cares for us. None of our suffering, or yours, is wasted. We are tired and weary in ministry and as a family, but we can keep coming to Jesus who will give us rest (Matthew 11).
In lighter family news, Fenley turned five in in July, Nora started school in August, and Henning will turn one this Saturday! Nora’s “Einschulung” was very special. The kids in the first class all get their Schultüte and gather at a church service, then they walk over to the school. Happy tears were shed, and of course coffee and cake followed. Fenley is very excited to go to school with Nora next year, but we reminder her to enjoy “right now.” Henning is about to walk, and I (Paige) still smell his head 100 times a day. Our kiddos are hilarious, beautiful gifts and we thank God for them.
PLEASE PRAY:
That God would continue to sustain and strengthen our family and ministry
That we would love and disciple, our children well , especially caring for Nora’s diabetes
God’s clear direction
