Spring 2026

CHURCH

If you have read our updates or been in contact with us, you know our family was very exhausted as we transitioned out of the pastorate in Münster. In His kindness, God released us from that position when He did and the months since have been restorative and encouraging.

In January we became members at the Freie Kirchen Gemeinde Warendorf. It has been the right move and the right time for all of us. Even Henning, who loves to haggle Opa on Sunday mornings. We are greatly benefitting from gathering with these believers on Sundays, we’re engaged in discipleship and being renewed by people’s fellowship and hospitality. I (Paige) am even in the Easter choir – a small choir, singing German – two of many things I never thought I’d do.

Some of the best counsel we got in December was to not make any large decisions or changes in this moment. Our desire is to return to full-time ministry serving the local church here in Germany. But not yet, so what now? And then? And later?

„The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps.“ Pslam 16:9

Now, we continue to thank God for this time of rest, connect as a family and couple, invest in relationships and discipleship in our local church, and use this time to live out Psalm 27:8, “My heart says of you, “Seek his face!” Your face, Lord, I will seek.” The Grünings, friends who lead a counseling ministry in Germany, are graciously taking the time to counsel us through this time of sabbatical rest.

Then, Lord willing, at the start of next school year Jonas will begin as Nora’s “assistant” during school hours. Secondly, we are in the final talks of Jonas becoming a part-time pastoral assistant. A formal decision will be made by the end of April.

The goal is a slow and steady re-entry that we may use our gifts in a church without immediately putting too much pressure on us as a family. Jonas would not be an elder and the pastoral assistant position would let us ease back into vocational ministry.

Our ministry vision is: To build healthy local churches that will spread the gospel and disciple Christians in Germany, Europe and around the world.

We pray we will do that in the strength God provides. And He would give us the wisdom and discernment to make decisions about our future. May we glorify God and enjoy Him forever, wherever we are and whatever we do.

Later, we will see where God leads us.

FAMILY

We celebrated 10 years of marriage in March. The family ate ice cream then Ma and Pa went out to dinner “after hours.” Around 7:30 p.m. Also known as, too late. We thank God for these years He unhas given us.

We were in Austria in January to meet our new niece. Fenley is enjoying her last months of Kindergarten and is very ready to join Nora at school. Paige’s knee is doing great, praise God. My (Paige’s) random medical experience of the update was an unpleasant tooth extraction after pain and infection in my jaw. “Good thing it wasn’t your big front one!” in the words of Fenley.

Big, excited news for our family – more exciting if you like dogs – is that we are welcoming a puppy April 10. When Nora was diagnosed it became a pipe dream to train a “Hypo” alert dog as an extra layer of safety outside of technology. My (Paige’s) brother, incredibly generously made this happen for Nora and we are so thankful. We will train the dog for the next one to two years. Our whole family is looking forward to bringing Piper home.

To our ministry partners: We want to be forthcoming with our plan and be clear that until September we will not be serving formally in vocational ministry. Would you prayerfully consider continuing to support us through this time of sabbatical rest? Please reach out to us if you have any questions.

We are thankful for you,

Jonas and Paige
